You are watching: 2002 ford f250 cruise control not working

I have a 2000 7.3 starrkingschool.net with the ZF-6 and my cruise control isn"t working. I have searched for problems, but I"m down to the wiring in my steering wheel, or my CPS(clutch position sensor). Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

I also have this problem. It quit a few weeks after i bought the truck. No cruise light either. I rarely use it so i just never took the time to track down the problem.

I"m gonna say with no light it"s not getting a signal so it should be wiring from the buttons in the steering wheel. I asked about the light only because if it was on and no cruise control it may get a bit more complicated or expensive. Follow the wiring and you should be able to find something that looks pinched or cutSent from my iPad using Tapatalk

There was a recall on our trucks for the cruise control deactivate switch, located on the master cylinder. Might want to check with a dealer to see if it has been replaced. If not then it is a free fix. On my 2000 it is located on the left side (passenger side) underneath the master cylinder. Here is a youtube for the fix:

I second the motion for the switch on the master cyl. If the horn blows, it"s not the clockspring in the steering wheel. I had bad wiring to the master cyl switch caused by the hacker that installed the Pacific Brake. Connections were ****ty, and cruise would drop out hitting a bump. Went on for a couple years and eventually got so bad it wouldn"t engage at all. Fixed the wiring at the switch 10 years ago, and never a problem since. The cruise control for the Diesel is really simple. Not much to it at all. Begin with the master cyl switch.
